Draught

For novelists, screenwriters, and anyone who just wants to write.

The page, and
nothing else. That's Draught.

A stupidly simple writing surface for prose and screenplays. Plain text on a calm page, versions kept quietly as you write, and exports that come out beautiful: a reading page, a manuscript, a book, or a proper screenplay.

The idea

A dumb editor and a smart exporter. Draught refuses to format on screen: you write plain text with the lightest possible emphasis, and all the real formatting happens at export. The calm comes from the editor never trying to be a layout tool.

What it does
A near-empty canvas
One centered column on a quiet page, a thin header, and the word count as the only visible control. The writing is the interface.
It quietly remembers
Make a file a project and Draught keeps versions as you write. Click the word count to see how the work grew, read any past version, or bring one back.
A screenplay lens
Fountain formatting that falls out of typing: scene headings, cues, and dialogue take their places as you write them. The file stays plain text any app can open.
Scraps, not deletions
Cut text lands in a per-manuscript drawer instead of vanishing. Read it later, drop it back in at the caret, or let it rest.
Notes beside the draft
A quiet panel for the thoughts that aren't the manuscript: jot, keep, and get back to the page.
Exports beautifully
A clean reading page, a submittable manuscript, a book, or a proper screenplay, each as a PDF. The editor stays plain; the export does the dressing.
Part of the suite

Draught drafts. The suite carries it onward: an idea starts in Seed, takes shape on an Espalier board, becomes sentences in Draught, and Provenance records how it was made. Draught projects share one history with Provenance, so the record needs no copying. Each app stands alone; together they carry a piece of work from spark to finish.
