Quire

A page you can write anything into, that remembers when, links things by name, and can be given structure later. It is the app for the thing you have not decided about yet.

Quire will be free. It is not finished, and there is nothing to download today — this page is here so you know what is coming.

The idea

Most tools make you decide what a thing is before you can write it down. A task, a note, a project, a journal entry. Quire does not ask. You write on the next page, and it is a page — dated, kept, findable.

Structure is something you add later, if the writing turns out to want it. A part, a section, a work. Never a folder you had to make first.

The rules it keeps
What things are called

Entry · Part · Section · Notebook · Volume · Work · Margin · Shelf

Volumes are time; works are projects. They do not nest inside one another, because the two questions — when did I write this, and what is it for — are different questions.

Where it sits

Quire is the free sixth app in the Procestra suite. Where Provenance keeps the record of finished work, Quire holds the part that has not become anything yet.
